Dune Light Sequence #2

These three photographs are sequential images illustrating the rapidly changing light conditions that occurred on one day we were shooting at Death Valley due to breaks in the dense cloud cover . Photo from the Mesquite Flat Dunes near Stovepipe Wells facing the Cottonwood Mountains. The whole sequence occurred in a matter of two or three minutes.

Image Processing notes: The shadows were darkened equally on each image such that 95% gray level in the original image displays as 100% (pure black; each negative was treated the same). Negatives were digitally cleaned by hand to remove scratches and dust. Following reduction of the image to the current size (900 x 1350 pixels), image sharpness was increased very slightly. Otherwise the images were untouched.
