Interlocking Hills

Salt Creek in Death Valley is lined with a small range of hills to the east. These hills are formed of silts and clays that were laid in the valley floor, later covered with conglomerates, and eventually uplifted above the level of the creek. The sediments are rich in salt and the hills, which are slowly eroding, are almost entirely devoid of vegetation.

 

i like the zig-zag channel erosion has carved in these sediments. These particular sediments are gray to greenish gray and the texture reminds me of elephant skin.
