Badwater Basin in Mist
Badwater Basin is the lowest point in the United States. This salty playa (dry lake) is located in Death Valley National Park, California and has an elevation of 282 feet (86 meters) below sea level. One can normally see the Panamint Mountain range that is located just on the other side of the basin, but mists and rain all but obscured them when I took this photograph.
Four days of intermittent rain - that wasn't exactly the weather I was expecting in Death Valley, the driest place in the United States!
