Dreaming about firemen means you will wet your bed
Earlier in the day the boy was taken to a fire station.
Although he was not allowed to dress up and play with the water from the hoses, the day had been great fun and he had been able to tell his friends at the Children's Home when he returned about his day out.
When he was going to be taken to the next party where they could dress up, he hoped he would be able to wear a fireman's costume, all he would need was a tunic and hat, he already had some rubber boots, so he would not need to ask the Sister for too many clothes.
If you dream you are a fireman and put out fires you will wet the bed. For those of us in the children's home watching this film might have caused a few more beds, but if we had a happy dream of dressing up as a fireman, a wet bed would be worth it.
Fear in the Home was the cause of most of our wet beds. You would wake up on the middle of the might after a bad dream, you could feel your bed was wet through fear or terror.
There might be the feeling that you still need to pee more. With your dream if it was things that might get you, you did not want to get out of bed, and the thought of the walking down the dark corridor put all of us from paying a visit to the toilet, you would just stay in bed and pee more. I had the knowledge that when Sister looked after me, there would be no punishment. When the Houseparent took over, there would be the slipper in the morning if I had wet the bed, it did not matter if it was only a small patch or if my entire sheet was soaked, it was always the same two hits with my slipper. When I had a major accident, there was the chance that you top sheet might get soaked, in turn this might mean that your top blanket would also need to be washed if it had become damp. To solve this matter several of us were given a second rubber sheet that went between our top sheet and the top blanket. From the age of nine it meant I did not have to worry about the blanket needing to be washed.
