Knapp House

This vacant house was built for Captain John Knapp in Douglas, Massachusetts between 1790 and 1800. Captain Knapp fought in the American Revolution and has been honored by having the local Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is named after him. The house reflects late 18th/ early 19th century building traditions and maintains its historic character to a great extent with the exception of an enclosed porch that was added after 1879. Sadly, the property is for sale as a commercial lot and the house will likely be razed if the lot is sold. As a vacant building, it will fall further into disrepair.
