The Life & Times of a (slightly) Obsessive Collector - Collection No. 1: Crime & Murder in New Zealand

Being a reasonably obsessive collector, Kathy reckoned it was time I started uploading some photos of a few of my collections.

So here is the first in an occasional series I will be posting featuring my favourite and quirkiest collections.

These pics are part of my New Zealand crime and murder collection, probably my largest single collection of anything.

For a small and relatively young country New Zealand has certainly had its share of particularly shocking and brutal murders and I have been collecting literature (books, magazines, articles, statistics etc) on New Zealand murders for many many years.

I think I have just about every book written on New Zealand crime as well as two huge filing cabinets (retro style of course) containing records and details on every single murder committed in New Zealand from 1840 to today.

I don't know how or why this obsession developed but it started while working in libraries in Napier and New Plymouth. Eventually, I came to be known as the "go-to guy" for customers with particularly obscure queries related to "some murder that somebody told me happened in the house I just bought in the 1890s". It was a great feeling to be able to produce the facts for the customer or equally just debunk a good urban myth!

I would love to get all this onto the net one day but I'ms not quite sure how yet. Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted!
