Calibre Wings F-14A VF-142 #4
...the previous three commentaries on the new Calibre Wings F-14 have probably gone overboard on the quality of this new diecast. However, there are a few minor problems. The biggest is a direct result of how detailed and complicated this model is. It is extremely fiddly and would be easy to damage upon assembly or even just touching it. The wing pylons are the worst example as unless they're glued (which would reduce the value and locks in the external configuration), they do not fit securely, and each is a sub assembly of missiles and rails itself. Whilst photographing one fell out and it took 45 minutes of frustration too get everything back together again - all handling that could have damaged such a delicate model. Also the nose pitot tube is a tiny separate piece that is just asking to be lost. One of the blade antenna on the upper fuselage had come unglued before reaching me and the tiny blade was sitting in the box, luckily spotted by myself before being lost and was swiftly glued into place. I have seen photos of other models missing this antenna so this is clearly a recurring problem. These problems aside though, the Calibre Wings F-14 model, or at least the variant I posses is a aviation diecast model beyond any other release l I have seen on the market.
