F-4J, 74 Sqn, RAF Wattisham, 1987.

Those were the days. Summer holidays from school, 15 minute cycle ride upto the fence (such as there was, no ten mile high security fence then!) to watch the two resident Phantom squadrons at work, and in those days they had the budget, and the motivation, given it was the cold war to fly a fair bit as well. The taxiway from the Northern HAS complex where 74 Sqn were housed was barely a few feet from the fence where we used to hang out, so close in fact that there was a warning about the jet wash that would sweep over you as they taxied past. This was shot late in the afternoon on a old 35mm Olympus OM10 as a print and has been scanned in so the quality isn't quite there.
