The Full Buck Moon's arising - but those ain't no antlers.

July's full moon is known as the Full Buck Moon to the northeastern Algonquian Native American peoples because the lunar event corresponds to the season when male deer grow new antlers.

Another name is "Full Hay Moon" because it is at this tme that the farmers are harvesting the hay for the winter.

.Because thunderstorms are relatively common this time of year, this months' full moon is also nicknamed the Thunder Moon - very fitting for us here in Thunder Bay.
