My kitchen view
The view from my kitchen window, taken on the 12th of April 2008, a view which also provides amazing sunsets. In the distance is the Isle of Arran, the highest peak (Goat Fell - 2866 feet) being almost 18 miles away. Between Arran and the houses across from me is The Firth of Clyde, the Ardeer Penninsula, the jetty was once used by ICI for loading ships with explosives. Alfred Noble chose this site, and the Luftwaffe bombed it in World War Two. Then there is part of Irvine Harbour, the Riverway Retail Park and one end of the Rivergate Shopping Centre. In the distance to the right you can sometimes make out the Isle of Jura, where in 1948, George Orwell wrote '1984'.
