Golden tree snake

Chrysopelea ornata

This golden tree snake fell to the ground from a tree with its prey, a Tokay gecko (Gekko gecko) munching on a Giant centipede (Scolopendra subspinipes). The snake held the gecko firm for about 15 minutes untill the venom had worked. On this photo, the snake has started swallowing the gecko, still with the centipede in its mouth. It took half an hour to get it all down.
