Elke is Smart

My friend Elke is training to be a nurse. As she's mulling physiological ideas over, she'll often write an abbreviated form of them on her hand or arm to help her memorize them.

 

Here's Stroke Volume = End Diastolic Volume - End Systolic Volume.

 

It has something to do with blood pressure, but I'm lost beyond that.
