Pottsville PA West End Fire Co. No. 7

Pottsville PA West End No. 7

1937 Ahrens-Fox

500 GPM

#9027 Model: V-C

The first enclosed body fire engine in the United States was built in 1935. Within a few years many apparatus manufacturers had tried their hand at building at least one. This particular machine had a wood framed body that was manufactured by the Kelly Auto Body Co. which was located within walking distance of the Ahrens-Fox factory. Pottsville is a fascinating town to visit if you're a fire buff.

There are numerous volunteer fire companies, an active Gamewell alarm system and plenty of freshly brewed beer! The Pottsville F.D. web site is: www.pottsvillefire.com/
