Atmosphere
Every now and again I get a job where I go Wow; last week was one of them and not for the usual wow you expect from a rope access job.
All I had to do was provide safety cover for 2 engineers testing the flue gasses from a coal fired power station. Sat 650ft in the air I was amazed that we could actually sit and work in the gasses emitted from the chimney safely. The roar of the 4 no. 6.5 diameter flues, the constant buzz of static electricity from anything metal and the strength of the wind blowing the condensation from the flues changing perfect vision into a total whiteout in milliseconds made this one of the most atmospheric places I have ever worked.
What amazed me was just being able to stand at the exhausts of 4 huge coal fired boilers breathing in what at the end of the day was just 60c steam!
