My latest watercolor. After many failed attempts at it, I have finally created another image I like. I tend to overpaint my images and it just ruins them. With watercolor it really is a case of: less is more and one stroke painting. Anything messed up is just going to have to stay- it is hard to correct once the color is down. It also does not allow for erasing when drawing the images, which makes the task difficult for me- I am not proficient at drawing. I used mostly watercolor pencil with a hint of watercolor crayon.The finished size is 9x12 inches and will serve as a companion piece to Jellyfish Head. This is not a man. I know, she is very manly looking in my version. However; Renoir drew this as a female, she has very well defined muscles and she is sweeping her hair up and away from her back. With a larger view of her body, it would have been easier to see that this is definitely a female nude.
