Barker's Lemon Tree WIP
While reading Clive Barker's book "Abarat Absolute Midnight" I was very inspired by a couple of things he wrote, one was a passage about a tree, copied onto the yellow piece of paper. The other was: some of the words he chose- I made a list of the words and kept it- it's copied onto the black strips of paper. Here is the passage: "A tree appeared in her head, driving away the gloom: a living tree with lemon-white blossoms and a canopy so perfectly blue..."
The background of the image is book paper torn from an Italian short story book, painted blue and silver and stitched together with silver thread. (If you have read the books, you know the relevance of stitched bits.) The tree is torn pieces of black and white polka dot paper- the edges are inked in silver. The flowers are made with 5 die-cut leaves (these were my daughter's idea) in lemon white paper. The words are silver ink on black and the passage is black ink on yellow notebook paper.
