found one of these pitchforks years ago and i’ve kept it in my bedroom. (you know, to control the old man). the other day, suzy brought it in from the snow and i had a little hissy. it’s not a toy, it’s a lethal weapon and, more important, it pretty much comprises my entire sculpture collection. she insisted hers was another one they’d found out in the field so i checked upstairs, and by golly, she was right. so now we have mr. and mrs. pitchfork. they’re clearly male and female, as one is straight and five-pronged and the other is curvy and four-pronged. given their compatibility, i’d say they were destined for each other. what’s a little rust when you can spend your days together in the pitchfork retirement home… soaking up the sun, playing a little 9 prong golf now and then, exaggerating 40 year old hay stories… oh, and dressing up as candelabra on very special occasions.
