Autumn Afternoon

There is a time, around the middle to the end of August around here, when there begins to be a hint of Autumn. Things do not change dramatically, but you can tell. Summer is coming to an end. It does not do so for some weeks, months really, around here, but that shift is always there in August. It is a little cooler at night. There are days when the temperatures aren't quite what they were. I love Autumn, but there is always a little sadness for me when it gets here. I'm not a big fan of winter, and it will be here soon enough.

 

Still, I love Autumn. Once I make my peace with it all, I love to get out in the mountains and see the color, see the forests open up, see the light change. This image is from some years ago, shot with my D70s, in the Cherokee National Forest.
