Most of the time when I look at flowers I notice that they are pretty, but when I stop and look closely, I notice that they are magnificent. Looking through a lens helps to look closely, but because of the optical limitations there is not a great deal of depth of field up close. This image is created from 16 images, all taken with different focal planes, combined in Helicon Focus to provide this much depth of field at this magnification. I love the way it looks like you can just walk into an iris when you look closely at it.
