My favorite Spring flowers are probably Virginia Bluebells. Small and delicate, they go from small purple pods to blue pods to blue flowers in a short while before they start to turn brown and fall. Catching them at just the right time is half the game and getting close enough to capture them is the other half. This close, depth of field is quite a challenge, so I like to use depth fo field stacking, or focus stacking, if you prefer. This image was made from 35 photographs with different focal planes, combined in Helicon Focus to make one image with remarkable depth of field for this level of magnification. This is quite close to true macro. I usually try to get shade to shoot in, but this time I used a translucent reflector so the image is warmer than usual.
