Pergola

I've been meaning to clear the pergola for a couple of years and this year I found time to do it.

 

I wished I'd done it a couple of years before or maybe more!

 

The Clematis Armandii which has wonderfully scented flowers had just taken over and the old growth and the dead leaves which are like little sheets of plastic had formed a choking mass over the whole thing

 

The pile of stuff that I stripped out was as tall as me and will never rot down so I've had to join the council's wheely bin scheme to get rid of that and other indestructible stuff

 

But the pergola looks much better and you can see other plants growing on it and I can tie in the roses
