65/365 ABSOLUTE ME.
Seems like we define most things thanks to comparisons
and ourselves as well
I am taller than him
I am thinner than her
This is more expensive than that
This camera has more pixels than that one
Yes, I'm talking to you too, photographers out there
This is lighter than that
He makes more money than I do
This computer is faster than that one
She is younger than I am
And so on
Forever
Comparisons
Do I exist
only
in comparison
relatively
to someone else
to everyone else ?
Or is there
something deep in me
that exist
that is
and that could be described
without any comparison ?
Something that would even
define
me
independently of the definitions of everyone else ?
Something
that would be absolute ?
- as opposed to relative -
And something
absolute
in you
Something else
not just defined by the difference from what is in me
but defined by itself ?
And something as absolute
in every one else as well
Something that
is
at the bottom of us
Something that
is
the basis of everything in us
Something
in us
that
is
Wouldn't that be
a wonderful thing
for us
to get to that absolute definition
of ourselves ?
And to live our life according to it ?
Instead of living according to
what difference we can perceive
between our outer shell
and
some elusive unreachable standard ?
To stop comparing
and live absolutely
Because we have no idea how big or fast or how expensive we need our things
to be useful to us
to serve us
until we know what we are absolutely
And there's no end to bigger, faster, thinner ...
To stop buying cameras because they are better than our current one
and focus on making pictures
that we have inside us
that come from this absolute
regardless of whether the gear we use is better or not
than any other ?
What about our cars
our clothes
our houses
our incomes
our knowledge
our beliefs ...
To be
absolutely
alive
(to be continued in next day's post : "Right under my nose...")
