Vicolo de’ Catinari prende il nome dall’attività artigianale esercitata dai fabbricanti di stoviglie, un tempo fiorente, che qui avevano le loro botteghe. "Catinurum" è infatti il termine latino che indica il piatto o la scodella, da cui la derivazione di "catinari ", equivalente di "scodellari", ricordati anche dalla vicina chiesa di S. Carlo, detta appunto de’ Catinari.
Vicolo de' Catinari takes its name from craft practiced by manufacturers of kitchenware, once flourishing, that here had their shops. "Catinurum" is in fact the Latin word for the dish or bowl, from which the derivation of "catinari" also mentioned by the nearby church of St. Charles, called de' Catinari .
