Saw years ago @ MOS burger, they have rice burgers but never tried. I had some leftover rice AGAIN! :P

The best rice for making these is Japanese I think, or shortgrain rice as it sticks together better. Surinam rice, just forget it...

I use thai fragrant rice, already a bit difficult.

 

I use a stainless steel ring to make the rice into a cake (need to put water in the spoon, on the ring, and the plate, etc, or else there's more rice on those things than left in your cake haha)

 

You can also wet your palms and roll big ball of rice between your palms to make a round patty, squeeze it really hard, so it won't fall apart when and after frying.

 

Heat some oil on non-stick pan, medium heat, and place the cakes in the oil, it needs to really fry it till a bit golden, so it stays together :P It just takes patience, becaues burnt rice is actually quite nice, like rice crackers :)

 

Flip them over, wait for the other side to fry also. I brush some sauce (soy sauce, five spices, sugar and sesame oil). When the bottom is almost ready, i placed ham and sliced cheese on top of one to warm and melt.

 

When I transferred it to the plate, I add some chopped cilantro, ketchup and mayonaise :) My top one wanted to fall apart :P but it managed to stay till the end :)
