East Brixton station platform in 1971

Not a brilliant shot, taken from a passing train (the 9.15 London Bridge-Battersea Park). Still has the Southern Railway "target" signs rather than the BR Southern Region totems. The platform seat looks rather non-standard, and what are the white surrounds to the bottoms of the canopy supports?
