Vermilion Flycatchers (F and M) (Pyrocephalus rubinus) Apr 5, 2012. Big Morongo Preserve, San Bernardino Co., CA

Vermilion Flycatchers are rare breeders in California. Just a handful of pairs are found each year in riparian areas surrounded by desert. Over the course of an hour, I was able to watch the male (lower right) do several bouts of courtship displays to the female (upper left)
