Cluny 2023
We are now back home after a rather lovely holiday in France . We stayed in the little town of Cluny thats sits in the Mâconnais hills in Southern Burgundy . Its a charming town that I first visited in 1988 and have returned there regularly .
This is a shot taken in the early morning looking across part of the town the most prominent feature in the image is the handsome tower of Cluny Abbey .The abbey was constructed in the Romanesque architectural style, with three churches built in succession from the 4th to the early 12th centuries. The earliest basilica was the world's largest church until the St. Peter's Basilica construction began in Rome.
