Birdlife on Lake Nakuru Kenya
**. A shot from our first trip to Kenya in August 2004 and the first time I used a digital camera, a very basic point and shoot . My only regret about the trip was I missed a lot of shots I would have managed with a better camera. When we went back in 2010 I was much better equipped . Still I will never forget seeing the Big cats and elephants in the wild for the first time I don’t need photographs to remember the thrill of that experience .
This was taken at Lake Nakuru I was trying to photographs the flamingoes but this Marabou stork managed to get in front of the pretty birds . Actually if you look into the mass of birds there are also at least three Pelicans
In Marys opinion Marabou storks are the ugliest bird on the planet . This is probably about first impressions. I remember the drive from the airport to downtown Nairobi it was so exciting to think we were in Africa and everything looked so different it was total sensory overload . As we drove along there were landfill sites at the roadside and they were full of scavenging Marabou storks. Only at that time we did not know their name they just looked like birds from hell. Interestingly this Stork is sometimes called the "undertaker bird" due to its shape from behind.
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT .
