Come on you Hull

From Ravenna to Rugby League you cannot say I don't offer variety

Its been 14 months or 431 days since I last saw my beloved Hull FC play live. It was a real joy to see a game live again . There were some differences everyone was masked and to allow for social distancing only 6000 fans could attend but it was quite moving to hear the club song Old Faithful ring round the ground . The image is early in the game and a Hull forward in black and white is enveloped by Catalan dragons defenders .

Hull play Rugby league a 13 men a side not to be confused with Rugby Union a 15 man game that I have always found dull. There are two Hull rugby league teams in the city in West Hull its Hull FC and in the East there is Hull Kingston Rovers.

Rivalry is intense between the teams and supporters and when the Hull FC play the team from the dark side it's quite a spectacle. I have followed Hull FC since the early 1970s but its also part of a family tradition . My grandfather played on the wing for Hull before the first World War . He might have been a great player but he lost most of his calf muscle in the Battle of the Somme
