Summer Solstice 2015
A unique Solstice for us as the sun never set at all and the light was perfect. This is an image of Austnesfiord just north of Svolvar in the Lofoten Islands. The Lofoten’s were without question the highlight of the trip. Mostly we travelled by various boats and trains but for a couple of days I hired a car so we could properly explore the various Islands in the Lofoten group.
They are well North of the Arctic Circle but due to the influence of the Gulf Stream the climate in Northern Norway is not too extreme the temperature on the day I took this shot was about 10 C so perfectly comfortable
