Twisted Spinnaker

Our last Wednesday race brought us good winds at average 15 knots. We had a few exciting moments, vying for position coming around the marks, and even a close call...or two. This boat had some trouble getting its' Spinnaker up, Maybe it wasn't packed properly, or just got twisted in the lines. The Spinnaker is a very light sail, with a very big pull because of it's shape, gathering in maximum wind. It has to be hoisted very quickly, and accurately. I am always reminded of a well choreographed ballet when the boats turn the mark and all the Spinnakers begin to go up.

The pessimist complains about the wind;

the optimist expects it to change;

the realist adjusts the sails.
