Canned chile slices
Or canned sliced chilli peppers if you prefer, but I don't like confusing the chilli with the peppercorn.
Another recipe from the Ball Complete Homecanning Recipes book. It's basically a raw pack with white vinegar and crushed garlic as the syrup, which I decided not to dilute to keep at 5% acidity. I also added one clove more of garlic to each jar. The recipe called for jalapeño, serrano, and hot banana wax, but I substituted a variety of sweeter (and less spicy) chiles from our garden- corni di toro, Hungarian wax, and purple bell- and a couple of red ripe ones we aren't sure of (came with the apples pictured earlier). Ribs were removed from the purple bells but all the others had seeds and ribs fully intact.
In other words-- it will be sweet but spicy enough.
