Chainsawtic Neutral
I read way, WAY too much TVTropes for my own good. :P
---
News section: Pretty much a new feature in my comics introduced when I was working on a project (which I'll eventually reveal when I have more of it done), separating the two types of comments: humorous (mainly) and technical comments, things about news, making of the comic, etc.
Anyway, I'm thinking of renaming In Real Life. It was just a name picked in a split second, because I thought it was funny and appropriate.
...At the time, it was. Heavily influenced by conversations in...well, my real life, or dialog online, (but almost always some sort of talking) it was... *checks TVTropes for the closed tab about the particular Notable Webcomics for the right term*...
Gag-a-Day with Slice-of-Life. Slowly shifted into Gag-a-Day with Embellishment. Which it still is, if you replace 'Day' with 'Whenever the heck I get inspiration'.
Also, there's already a comic (actually, Wikipedia pointed me to another: Real Life Adventures, though that article was a stub) that kind-of has that name. "Real Life". Quite an old one, over ten years old. No 'In', but due to this, it kinda makes me feel a little unworthy to have it by comparison.
Also, most of the original things that were going into IRL now become ideas for "College", IRL's (sort of) spiritual successor. IRL gets the leftovers that I can't fit in, or don't want to plan out, or won't be able to draw, or want to be shown now instead of years from now (as College is rather time-consuming, taking hours to weeks to finish), or...
Yea.
However, IRL gained something: TVTropes. Initially, TVTropes was such a small part of IRL that it probably didn't exist, and if it did, it was too small to be seen. It grew, naturally, until I was devoting whole comics to many tropes.
(This one included. There's no "Chainsaw Bad" article, but guess where the other one comes from? ;) )
Now, as for a new name, should I go through with this idea, my first thought is some nonsensical term. My current thought is "Eyes Are Alive!" (In Real Life-->IRL-->Eye-Are-El, 'el' and 'al' can have similar pronunciations, add an s to make the appropriate tense and 'ive' to make a word, and now, you know how my twisted mind comes up with these incredibly lame puns. :P )
The other thought was as I am typing this, really, of me taking my TVTropes inspiration a little bit...further. I've read probably thousands upon thousands of articles, there. I have TWICE gotten completely immersed in there, to the point of each time having HUNDREDS of tabs. And I read TVTropes articles nearly every day. So, um, yea, lots to choose from!
A good one I (one day later, Friday, 4/16, 5:05 pm) recently thought of was "Slice of Little Days", based off of "Slice of Life Comics". Slice-of-life-->SOL-->SOLD. Or I could somehow turn SOL into SUN. :P
Further Notes:
By the way, I created the term "Chainsawtic Neutral". (I like the nine alignments, okay?) Chaos and Chain both share the 'Ch' spelling, even though they're pronounced differently. On the other hand, '-os' and 'saw' both have the same sound, yet different spelling. Meh, good enough.
How do I know? Well...I went to Google. First, with quotations. No results. Removed the quotations. No results, but they asked if I meant "Chainsaws Neutral". (Without quotes. With quotes, there still were no results, by the way.) Removed the neutral. Three results, but two were "Chainsaw, tic", and one was "Chain, saw, tic". I took screenshots of them for proof.
Then, as I was writing the above, I thought, "hey, that's just one search engine. Now, I don't use anything else, but I need to be sure about this!"
Let's see, for some of the more well-knowns...
Yahoo Search,
Amazon,
E-bay (well, you never know...)
Answers.com,
Wikipedia,
And even Bing.
Every search engine I had on my computer, plus any I could think of.
Nope, nothing on any of them. All of them suggested something else. "Chainsaws Neutral", mostly.
And currently, it is the 16th (1:37 am. Still feels like the 15th, as I haven't gone to bed) of April, 2010. 4/16/2010. With no results on any search engine. Let's see how quickly that changes once I put this comic up.
Misc Note: I accidentally typo'd the original name of the comic to "Chainsawtic Good". Had to change it, as it didn't quite fit my intention with the comic. Chainsawtic Neutral was what I was always planning. ;)
