Women on boards, the Asian perspective - The launch of Inspire, Hong Kong
Over forty senior female leaders from across the region including Australia, Philippines and India, representing a wide range of sectors from FMCG, Technology, Publishing and Education, came together to share ideas on how we can encourage more women to be board ready. The issues discussed on the night included ensuring enough female candidates are put forward for board level positions and the pressures on women to make tough choices in their careers, particularly in the Asia Pacific region where the matter of balancing dual careers and the need for constant mobility present daily challenges for many.
The key note speaker Umran Beba, President Asia Pacific from PepsiCo gave a very passionate and insightful speech regarding her experiences and challenges building a diverse leadership team in the region, as well as sharing her personal views on what women can do further to prepare themselves for the responsibilities of the boardroom.
