[NeverWhere] Othsilia
My second character.
---------------------------------------------
Name: Othsilia
Age: 600 years old
---------------------------------------------------
On a planet in a galaxy far away lived a small and growing civilization of Merfolk and other underwater creatures. This planet was 85% ocean so it only made sense that the Merfolk were the rulers of the planet, their was a government much like ours. There was a Queen, the Ten Elders, and the Military, though there wasn't much use for it since the Merfolk and other creatures lived in harmony. Othsilia was one of the Elders, and was next in line for the position of Queen when it was time for the current Queen to retire. Some of the Elders were jealous of Othsilia, for unlike the other Elders she was not born into royalty, she was just a Worker Mer that the Queen had come to love like a daughter. So they plotted, they'd wait for the The Goddess's Cleansing, a massive storm that formed once a year that would cause mass destruction and if anyone were to be out in the middle of it they would either die, or be swept so far away it would take years, and years to find their way back home. So they waited..
Othsilia was just returning to her her room after a long day of preparing for the storm when one of the Elder's, Percious [per-see-ous] approached her in the corridor. "Percious.." she smiled warmly "What are you still doing up at this late hour, we must sleep and wait out the storm." she said softly not wanting to wake up the others. "Othsilia, we have something we must show you, it is urgent." he said with hast as two other Elders swam out from the shadows behind Percious.
"Why must you show me, show the Queen, I'm sure her opinion would be more helpful than mine.." she said warily. "Yes, but we'd rather not bother the Queen, she has been working so hard preparing, and are you not next in line? Surely your opinion should be just as worthy as the Queen's." he said. Othsilia frowned "I am not so sure of that Percious, but if you insist then I suppose I must. May I ask what it is about first?" she said. "Uh, it's something you will have to see for your self." said one of the Elders behind Percious, whom she didn't quite recognize in the dark corridor. Percious scowled back at the Elder who spoke, but turned back to Othsilia with a smile. "Yes, I'm sure it's something you will have to experience to believe." Percious said. "Alright then.." Othsilia said warily. "Alright." Percious said then he spun around and started walking. Othsilia lingered a moment looking back and forth between the two men leaning on opposite sides of the corridor, still she did not recognize them.. Then she followed after Percious, the two men following behind Othsilia. Soon they made their way to the main entrance of the palace, a huge door the size of a three story building.. "Surely we aren't going outside, are we?" Othsilia asked. "We must, my dear, that's where the problem to be fixed will be.." Percious said convincingly. Othsilia stared long and hard at Percious, he didn't seem like the same man he had been days ago, the light that had once been in his eyes had even dimmed, and had almost changed from blue to grey.. Little did she know it was jealousy who had tainted his heart. "Open the door!" Percious ordered the two mysterious Elders, they did as they were told and it was apparent that the storm was very near, coral reefs, seaweed, sand and other debris flew by.. And the noise of the quick currents grew louder. "Can't this wait?" Othsilia half shouted over the noise as they swam further away from the palace. "No I will not wait any longer.." Percious said in a dark tone. They swam further and further away till' they reached a large coral reef which had been used as a military hide out. "Wait here." Percious ordered the Elders. "Follow me, it's in here.." Percious said to Othsilia. They soon found an empty room that was missing a roof a two walls, Othsilia waited at the entrance of the room while Percious swam off into the dark, moments later he came back holding rope. "What is this about, Percious?" Othsilia demanded. "Hands behind your back." Percious ordered. "What? What is the meaning of this?" Othsilia demanded again. "Hands. Behind. Your back." Percious said through his teeth pulling a knife out from under the rope. She did as he said, he tied her hands behind her back, then tied it to the reef. "For too long the Queen has favored you, Othsilia..." Percious said angrily. "And for centuries we have had to watch as a *worker*" he said with disgust "take my rightful place as KING!" he shouted. "But now.. with no one around to help you, I will finally get rid of you once and for all." he said with an evil smile creeping up on his face. "So your going to kill me?" Othsilia said angrily. Percious laughed "No! I will let storm do it for me, silly girl. I won't kill you... but THAT," he pointed to the large funnel of water spinning like a tornado getting closer and closer by the second.. "that, it is." he chuckled. "The Queen will find out, she will know it was you! Your soul has grown cold, Percious, and whether I am alive or dead you will never become king! You will never redeem yourself, She will send you to the darkest depths of the ocean where you'll die alone." Othsilia said harshly. Percious clapped "Wonderful speech! But that doesn't change your fate.." he said smiling. "Well," he said looking from Othsilia to the approaching storm "I had better go, it was really nice chatting with you though. Maybe we should do it again sometime.." he said with a dark laugh, and with that he left. Othsilia silently weeped as the storm grew closer when she heard a beautiful song like she had never heard before, calling to her, soothing her, assuring her she'd be alright.. And as soon as the song stopped the storm hit, knocking her unconscious.
She woke in an ocean she didn't recognize, with creatures she hadn't seen before..
What happens next? You decide.
