Turquoise Tanager (Tangara mexicana)

Jardim da Amazônia Lodge - São José do Rio Claro, MT, Brazil.

 

This tanager is found in Trinidad, much of Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela south to Bolivia. Its primary distribution is the Amazon, restricted to areas with humid forest, woodland and cultivation.

 

The adult is mainly dark blue and black, with turquoise edging to the primaries. Most races have yellow underparts.
