James Russell Lowell [ca.1855]

Born – February 22, 1819, Cambridge MA

 

Died – August 12, 1891, Cambridge MA

 

He got much attention when his 1848 book-length poem, A Fable for Critics, satirized many critics and poets of his time. He published The Biglow Papers the same year.
