balsam pear fruit

Balsam pear is a fast-growing summer annual vine. Fruits are egg-shaped and covered with ridges and warts. They are first green but then turn orange at maturity and split open, revealing bright red arils (seed covering) that cover the seeds.

Balsam pear is native to subtropical regions of Africa and Asia. but is now widely distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions throughout the world.
