inscription in Moissac Abbey cloister

This Latin inscription is carved on the middle pillar of the west side of Moissac Abbey's cloister. It states that the cloister was constructed in 1100.

The current Romanesque building of Moissac Abbey (the Église Abbatiale St-Pierre) dates from 1063 and was enlarged in the following century when Moissac became a stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The abbey was very nearly demolished to make way for the Bordeaux-Toulouse railway line in the 1850s.
