Hailes Abbey ruins

Founded in 1246, Hailes Abbey near Winchcombe in Gloucestershire became a major pilgrimage site from 1270 when the Cistercian monks received a phial of Holy Blood.

The abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII's commissioners in 1539.
