Chapel Street, Stratford-on-Avon

This view of Chapel Street in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, shows the Shakespeare Hotel on the left hand side (now part of the Mercure chain) and, at the far end, the Guild Chapel.

The Shakespeare Hotel occupies a grade II* listed building. This half-timbered structure dates back to the early 16th century. The Guild Chapel was largely built in the 15th century as the chapel for the Guild of the Holy Cross, which was subsequently suppressed by Henry VIII.
