decorative columns on Porta della Pescheria, Modena Cathedral

The Porta della Pescheria is the north portal of Modena Cathedral in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

Begun in 1099, the cathedral was consecrated in 1184 and was built in the Romanesque style under the direction of master builder Lanfranco.

These half-columns form part of the archivolt surrounding the doorway.
