romanesque column capitals in Santa Stefano, Bologna

Part of the complex of seven churches ("sette chiese") known collectively as Santo Stefano in Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Parts of this complex date back to the fifth and eighth centuries.

The columns seen here support the roof of the upper level of the mediaeval cloister.
