ruins of St Wandrille Abbey, Normandy

Although the abbey of St Wandrille (also known as Fontenelle Abbey) in St Wandrille-Rançon, Normandy, France is still functioning, parts of the building are in ruins. This is a result of partial demolition undertaken during the suppression of monasteries in 1791 during the French Revolution.

What is seen in this photo is the ruin of the gothic church, specifically the crossing where the nave and transepts meet.
