Broadway East construction
Broadway East is the developer's name for the conversion of the disused Bethnal Green gasholder site into more than 500 residential apartments.
The two remaining Victorian iron gasholder frames will have cylindrical apartment blocks built within them, similar to those at the 'Gasholders' development in King's Cross. And three more cylindrical blocks - without iron frames - will be built in the same plot.
Construction work has been underway for over a year (beginning with the lengthy process of clearing out the old gasholder infrastructure) and it appears in this shot that the foundations are only now being built within the larger of the iron gasholder frames. The concrete core of one of the blocks without a frame can just be glimpsed in the background on the left. Those blocks will be competed first.
