clean island

Mural by street artist Loste on the exterior wall of the former prison building in Favignana, one of the Egadi islands near Trapani, Sicily.

The full inscription reads "VI PREGO TENER L'ISOLA PULITA" which means "please keep the island clean". These words were originally written on a Favignana wall by a local character called Zù Sarinu - whose face this mural depicts - who was well known for his hospitality and love of the island. The mural was created in 2022 to mark the 30th anniversary of his death.
