This is the Piazza Fasci dei Lavoratori, one of the set-piece civic spaces created as part of the construction of the new town of Nuova Gibellina, Sicily. The town was built from scratch, from the 1970s onwards, to replace the original town (10km away) which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1968.
This square is one of a series of similar spaces called 'Sistema Delle Piazze' which were designed by Franco Purini and Laura Thermes.
