Gibson Gardens

This cobbled street in Stoke Newington is home to an early example of social housing. It was built in 1880 by an organisation with the remarkable name 'The Metropolitan Association for Improving the Dwellings of the Industrious Classes', with the aim of providing a healthier alternative to poor quality slum housing which was all too commonplace at the time.
