Belfast Road, Hackney

On the wall of this house is an unusual street sign with the single letter 'N', designating the Northern London postal area. This means the sign must date from before 1917 when London postal areas were subdivided into smaller, numbered districts. Today Belfast Road is in N16 (corresponding roughly to Stoke Newington).
