clock tower in Rhodes Town

This clock tower was built in 1851, during the time of the Ottoman Turk control of Rhodes. It is adjacent to the Palace of the Grand Masters of the Order of St John at the highest point of Rhodes Town.

It is said that the clock marked the hour when all Greek inhabitants had to leave the city walls during the period of Ottoman control.
